The DANCE MOUSE™ concept began about 8 years ago and was originally developed as a pre-school syllabus only. It had become apparent that there was not an age appropriate structured dance syllabus with the result that many young dancers were suffering injuries and ending their dance careers prematurely. It was obvious that we needed to create a good solid dance foundation syllabus.
Two highly experienced dance teachers Tamra Cawood and Genetia King who between them have over 70 years dance experience set out to address the situation. Both have studied dance at tertiary level and have also danced locally and internationally. They both run highly successful dance studios and businesses of their own and are prominent figures in the local dance world.
They set out to develop a syllabus that would not only be age appropriate but a syllabus designed specifically to strengthen and develop these young bodies thereby increasing the standard of dance in South Africa.
After many years of work and development and in consultation with many specialist in various fields the DANCE MOUSE™ syllabus was finally ready to launch. Even though the syllabus is now being launched it will remain a work in progress and therefore qualified
DANCE MOUSE™ teachers will attend annual courses to understand and become proficient in upgrades and improvements.
The challenge that now lay ahead was how to ensure that the syllabus and all its benefits would be appropriately managed and that the high standards would be maintained.
This gave birth to the DANCE MOUSE™ franchise opportunity. The DANCE MOUSE™ franchise opportunity would not only ensure that all the objectives of the syllabus were achieved and that the standards would be maintained but also create an awesome business opportunity.
The DANCE MOUSE™ syllabus is aimed at children from Grade 000-Grade 7. The dance forms include Ballet Basics, Modern Basics, Latin American Basics, Break Dancing Basics, Gymnastics Basics, Rock ‘n Roll, Cheerleading, Hip-Tap, Hip Hop and Freestyle Dancing.
“DANCE MOUSE” teachers will be trained and equipped to teach these forms of dance at that level as well as Proprieception skills, Silk training, Body conditioning and Pilates techniques. This will help in protecting, strengthening and stretching the bodies of these children and forms an integral part of the program, however health, fun, fitness and enjoyment remain the primary focus.
After completing their grounding in DANCE MOUSE™ students will be stronger, exposed to many forms of dance and in a better position to choose and specialise in the form of dance of their choice.
The programme also takes into account previously disadvantaged communities and charitable organisations and is designing a feasible solution to be implemented. The benefits of this are not only in the benefits to the community but also to the brand through its credibility and media exposure resulting from this programme.
